Customer information

Service terms

Last updated: 7 September 2026

These terms apply when you use Car Assistant’s website and vehicle-intelligence services. Car Assistant is a trading style of Nationwide Commercials Ltd, which supplies the service. By ordering a check, you ask us to begin supplying the digital report using the details you provide.

What the service does

Car Assistant combines available vehicle records and presents decision support in plain English. Free and paid capabilities, prices and included datasets are shown before an order is placed.

Source coverage

You pay for the vehicle search and the report assembled from the relevant connected sources, not for a promise that every possible field will contain a record. Results depend on the identifiers supplied, source coverage, record timing and data quality. A clear result means no relevant marker was returned by the checked source at that time; it does not prove that no issue exists. An unavailable field is labelled “not returned” or unknown and is never presented as clear.

Important limits

A report is not a mechanical inspection, roadworthiness certificate, legal title guarantee, insurance assessment or financial advice. You should verify the vehicle and documents, inspect it appropriately, and make your own purchase decision.

Optional customer data protection

Data protection applies only when checkout identifies it as included and shows the guarantor’s current terms before payment. A headline protection figure is not payable for every kind of error. The checkout disclosure will state each covered event, its claim-specific maximum and calculation basis, important exclusions, the claim period and any required period between running the check and buying the vehicle. You must explicitly accept the displayed policy version before protected checkout can open; we record that version and the time of acceptance with the order.

Our customer data protection guide explains how headline and event-specific limits are presented and which details must be confirmed before checkout.

Unless the checkout disclosure expressly says otherwise, protection does not cover finance, mileage, valuation, salvage, keeper information, MOT history, vehicle condition or any check shown as unavailable or not performed. Eligibility and compensation remain subject to the displayed provider terms. Car Assistant does not create or extend that protection by describing or interpreting the report.

Where checkout includes a finance-data guarantee, its current terms form part of the terms of sale and must be accepted before payment. Any supplier attribution required for the selected dataset is shown with the affected result.

Where checkout includes separate protection for eligible stolen or insurance write-off data, those current terms also form part of the terms of sale and must be accepted before payment. Their event-specific limits, calculations, periods and exclusions remain separate from the finance-data guarantee.

Your responsibilities

Provide accurate registration, VIN, mileage and listing details; use reports lawfully; and do not resell, scrape, reverse engineer or misuse the service. Do not rely on a report for a vehicle other than the one identified.

Payment and delivery

Premium checks are one-off purchases unless checkout clearly says otherwise. Consumer prices include VAT where applicable. Payment is handled securely by Stripe. A report is treated as supplied when the correct vehicle has been searched, a usable report containing the available results has been generated and it has been made accessible to you. Individual unavailable fields do not by themselves make the report unsupplied.

Because the report is digital content prepared for the vehicle details you provide, checkout asks you to expressly request that supply begins immediately and to acknowledge that your 14-day cancellation right is lost once supply begins. This does not remove your statutory remedies if the report is faulty, not supplied as described or otherwise does not conform to the contract.

Problems and contact

If a report appears incorrect or is not delivered, contact support@car-assistant.co.uk with the report or order reference and identify the affected result. We preserve the original report while investigating and do not silently overwrite it. Our correction and remedy process is explained in the refunds and report corrections policy. Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under applicable consumer law.
