Question or correct a result
Last updated: 6 September 2026
If a report appears incorrect, incomplete or out of date, preserve the report and check the underlying evidence before relying on a different answer.
Contact Car Assistant
Email support@car-assistant.co.uk with the report reference, registration, the specific field in question and supporting evidence. Do not send payment-card information or unnecessary identity documents.
What happens next
- We identify the source and check time attached to the disputed result.
- We distinguish a source-data question from a Car Assistant wording or interpretation issue.
- We explain the appropriate correction route or investigate a presentation problem within our service.
Official and third-party records
Car Assistant cannot alter DVLA, DVSA, police, finance, insurance, salvage, manufacturer or other upstream records. The relevant authority or data provider may require evidence from the keeper, owner, lender, insurer or another authorised party before it will consider a correction.
Run a fresh check after correction
Once the responsible source confirms a material correction, run a new vehicle check. Do not assume that an old report has updated or that a seller’s explanation has changed the underlying record.
Guidance corrections
If one of our public guides contains a broken link, unclear wording or a factual error, send the page address and the point concerned. We will assess it against the relevant source and update the page where appropriate.
